Or at least that is what it is starting feel like at the moment. I must have woken up in excuciating pain every 20 mins last night. It got that bad I moved to the spare room so that Mrs Stace could get some sleep as she had to get up for work.
Paracetammol isn't touching it anymore. The doctor has given me a different type of painkiller to gargle with alongside the paracetamol (how do you spell that?) to see if it helps. She doesn't want to do penecilin yet (fine with me if I can avoid it). So far today it's *better* but not good...
And having the pain for the last 4 days has definately blunted the GD in the short term. I am too focused on my tonsils. Not something I would reccomend though :)
Oddest thing... My doctor was ill so I had a replacement. Another person that now knows who I am. It was strange reading the last conversation (*that* conversation) I had with my doctor on the computer screen.
Update: I've just noticed that this is my 41st posting. I never thought I'd make it this far when I started.
Ouch! Suddenly losing sleep through dysphoria-driven insomnia doesn't seem so bad. Good luck with the new painkiller!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear you've been ill. I wonder why your doctor is holding off on the penicillin? Have you ever had an allergic reaction to it? Penicillin will usually knock an infection out almost overnight. I had my tonsils and adenoids taken out when I was three or four years old. It was almost a routine surgery for children with chronic sore throats back then. I rarely if ever get a sore throat now, but I have constant sinus problems. I wonder if the absence of my adenoids is the cause? I hope you get better soon! Take care.

The don't like to hand out penicillin over here inless it gets really bad. As it's just tonsilitus and not ulcerated tonsilitus yet they are holding off.
ReplyDeleteI had my adenoids removed when I was 11, but for some reason the doctors were not keen on removing my tonsils even though I always had issues with my throat as a child. I'm worried about if they want to remove them now though. I've heard it's a more painful experience as an adult than as a child.

@Melissa, my sinus problems survived antihistamines and lesser nasal sprays but went away when my doctor gave me Nasobec (Beclometasone) which is now my constant routine. Worth a try, highly recommended from here. When it finally let go all at once I was shocked just how much stuff had fit in there, I never realised my head had that much empty space in it.
ReplyDeleteSorry Stace for the hijack, Too Much Information: my speciality! Hope your throat's more comfortable by now.
Jenny: No problem :)
ReplyDeleteSeeing as we are already down the too much info road...
When I had my adenoids removed my sinuses remained fine.
However, 5 years later when they enlarged my sinuses (both adenoids and sinuses were to try and restore my sense of smell) everything went to pot. I started to suffer from colds a lot more often and get sinusitis if I don't use nasel spray to keep the airways clear when I do have a cold.
Throat? Maybe better, the cold that is behind it has started to come out, I slept for at least half of last night (albiet in 15 min doses) but when waking up it still hurts a lot. And one of my ears is now blocked. If it's not better by morning (and by better I mean sleeping 2 hours or more at a click) I'll be going back to the doctors.

...and I had better see at least 41 more posts this year, Stace!
ReplyDeleteCalie: I think there may be more than 41 this year - I just hope they are readable :)
