Well it's taken a week or so of swapping CD's whenever I remembered, but it's done.
244 discs
76GB of space
8+ days of music
3400+ songs
65+ Genres
It was boring as hell!
But hopefully it's the last time I need to do it, as it's lossless encoded now! And it does sound wonderful on the new system, soooo worth it!
What does that much music look like?

This could be the last time, This could be the last time. Maybe the last time, but I don't know...

Well the theory is that as it's ripped in flac I can just convert it any time I need to, without loss of quality.
ReplyDeleteIn theory...
Never say never :)

I take it you've backed it all up too. :-)
ReplyDeleteI hadn't at the time (no time to do it) - but I have now!
ReplyDeleteBut I have no off-site backup storage... Hmm, feels like something is missing :)
Actually joking aside I would love some off site storage for those things that I can't replace (like the 115GB of photos that I have)... They are all backed up (3 times, on different physical discs). And then stored next to each other (not quite right...)

I did the same thing with my cds and a few friends. Placed it all on a media server device I have. Its great having all my digital media in a centralized device able to be accessed on the network.
ReplyDeleteI keep looking for a media centre but haven't found one that I like yet...
ReplyDeleteThe search continues :)

ReplyDeleteHey Eleanor,
ReplyDeleteWow, that makes my 3500 (more or less) look a little limited :)
It took a week of mind numbing CD swapping - but it was so worth it.
Hopefully I'll get my replacement laptop tomorrow that should more easily talk to the TV so I can use the music without having to balance the laptop on the edge of the sofa :)

PS No problem - I know the feeling too well at the moment!

ReplyDeleteGood luck!
