Another Week, Another Title

Just a quick post this week, to make sure I keep up the habit.

It's been a rollacoaster week. The grandmother of my wife passed away, the funeral was yesterday. It was as bad / good as expected. Some people said some really nice things and I think that as well as the sadness there was also a lot of happy memories that people shared.

In between consoling my wife I've still had to keep working and slogging away in the bathroom helping my brother finish on time.

Add to that having to shower anywhere possible (at work, realitves or neighbours homes) and we're shattered. As the bathroom should be finsihed in a few days I hope life can get back to normal as soon as possible.

One last (happier) thought before I go... How do you complement a girl on the way she dresses without seeming like your (a) interested (I'm not) or (b) way too interested in womens clothes (I am :) )

  1. Sorry to hear about your wife's granny. I think I know what you mean about "good/bad" of it.

Complimenting a lady? You've got me, I'm still not sure. Is 'you look nice today' acceptable?

  2. Lynn: Thanks. I think the hardest part was when the family members did their bits - seeing them get so chocked up got me going to...

I guess that would be acceptable - just not sure it would sound natural :)

  3. Oh my gosh, I can't believe this post was a month ago and I am just now reading it....

Anyway, Stace, so sorry to hear about your wife's grandmother. Even with her gone, the memories will always remain.

As far as compliments to a woman, that is an interesting question. In the work environment, where I spend most of my time, and as a manager, males need to be PC and not perceived as coming on to a woman. It is very tough for me because I often want to compliment a woman just as another woman would. There are some I am close to in the work place who I talk to openly about clothes and fashion and I freely offer compliments...nice shoes, colors match, nice top, etc., but I need to be very careful with who I make those comments to. The comments are always well received.

I do real all of the blogs I subscribe to, Stace, but sometimes it takes time and I feel particularly bad when there has been a loss in a family and I am late reading about it.

  4. Calie: Thanks for the thoughts. I think that one of her uncles put it best - she is now back with her grandfather who she has missed terribly since he passed away last year.

The comments about giving compliments are pretty much the worries that I have.

And as for the late reading - don't worry about it :) I try to read all the blogs I subscribe to, but with the amount of work on my plate at the moment that doesn't alway happen either :) Then I spend an age playing catchup :)
