I suppose it's about time

That I introduced myself...

In the three years that I have been writing this blog I have never had an avatar other than Red from Fraggle rock.  And I have never posted a picture of me either. When I started writing it I could not afford anyone coming across the blog and realising who I was, so a fraggle avatar and no pictures was the only option.

The other problem with having a picture of me anywhere is that I hate them!  And I really mean hate them, most of the time I feel physically ill when I see a photo of myself.  This goes for before as well as after I transitioned - that is something that has not changed too much in the last 10 months!

At least normally! On the company weekend that I posted about a few weeks ago one of my colleagues came around with his camera and was taking shots of everyone.  One of them had me in it, and I absolutely love it!

I am not sure if it's the too large glasses and the witches hat covering my face.
Or the fact that I had rushed a large glass of wine shortly before the picture so that I relaxed a little.
Or if it's just that I'm smiling naturally and actually look genuinely happy in a photo for once.

What ever the reason, this is me :)

(Don't get used to it though...  The chances of more pictures of me appearing are not large!)

  1. I spent my life as a photographer and did all I could to make sure I was kept out of photographs...

It took a while before I could post anything other than me in borrowed large sunglasses.

With every passing month you will probably become happier with how you look, you will not be able to hide under a black hat and wooly tunic in your summer snaps...

    1. I had a previous draft of this that said almost the same thing :)

You're right. I can look in the mirror now when getting ready and not be too unhappy with what I see. And most of the time, with a little cosmetic help, I am quite happy. As long as I am dressed :)

    2. Oh, and I forgot to say... I adore that tunic with that belt! (and it's one of my cheapest outfits!)

  2. Just about everyone hates photos of themselves, I know I do.

But you look lovely so hopefully we'll see more pictures in the future :)

    1. I think that the problem with photo's is that everything that you hate is there - and because it's a photo you look even harder for the faults.

      At least I do!

Lets see what the future brings :)

    You look great.

I hate pictures of me and usually make sure that I'm the one with the camera, although my son did manage to take a really nice one of me the other day.

    1. Thanks :)

I did have a first copy where I said that I was always the person with the camera and not the person in front of it! To the point where my sister in law loves it when we are going to her children's parties as it means she has a personal photographer annoying all of her guests and she doesn't have to :)

Isn't it great when you do find one that you can think, "yes, that's me."

    2. I so love not being in pictures that I videoed the ceremonies for my sister-in-law and mother-in-law's weddings so that I wasn't in them :-)

Think my youngster is going to out-do me as a photographer if he keeps going the way he is.

    3. I don't know whether to say bad luck on losing your protective role, or congratulations on having a talented youngster :)

  4. There are two of us here who hate photos so we each take photos of each other and never show or stop!

I am still waiting for photos of the kitchen ;-)

    1. I know that feeling too! The amount of pictures we have of each other where we are protecting ourselves with our cameras :)

The kitchen is, annoyingly, not quite finished. There were some problems with the finish of some of the cabinets, and the quality of some of the silicone work that I refused to accept - if it was a cheap kitchen you have to accept some things, but we deliberately went for a nice kitchen to last up 15 years or so - and every time I walk into the kitchen I see the faults :(

Once done it still has to be painted - there is no point in doing that whilst cabinets still have to be replaced - and then I will take pictures of it :)

  5. Nice photo, Mrs. A bit different to your social media one (but not in a bad way!) ;-)

Ahh, photos. I don't mine them in trans-mode, but in bloke form....ack, no thanks. Make-up and shapewear hide a multitude of sins. :-D

    1. There are two on FaceBook. Once was taken with my phone in between takes, the other (that is now my profile picture) is this one. This is is far better!

I suppose I am getting there with photos - providing that I am not to stressed when they are taken :)

  6. A day I thought would never come! Quite the looker, for a witch. I was just thinking yesterday that the Fraggle was getting a bit tired.

I don't see the flaws, I see the happy.

    1. Thanks Jenny - I just printed this on photo paper and send it to my parents with a story on the back. I hope that they like it too...
