One local college already runs a darkroom course and our local college is running one in the Autumn and it should be full from the people I know have said they will do it if it runs.Jennahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08410714441581467404noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4187164070937704663.post-42406265287206249772016-05-21T07:58:39.802+02:002016-05-21T07:58:39.802+02:00Not only do you take more, but you also take more ...Not only do you take more, but you also take more risks (at least I do) as it doesn't matter if you get it wrong!

For me it was the contrast again, the geometric shape with the near uniform red and the black shadow. And the fun of taking two shots (one with the colour sensor the other with the monochrome one) and stitching them together. For a handheld shot I'm quite proud of the result :)

StaceStacehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07907346657510908857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4187164070937704663.post-18790742164720484192016-05-21T07:55:38.772+02:002016-05-21T07:55:38.772+02:00Due to a foible of education law when I was in col...Due to a foible of education law when I was in college I had to take an extra class as three A Levels did not class as full time education (though there were not enough hours in a week for 4, go figure...). I opted to take a rotating class where I could pick 4 studies from a range and do a 1/4 year introduction into each of them. One of the 4 that I picked was photography - black and white 35mm making our own cassettes and doing all of the development ourselves. I can't quite remember how happy I was with my results (scarily enough it is more than 20 years ago now :O ) but I do remember that I really enjoyed the whole process.

Whilst I have the same ups and downs in life as a lot of other people, for the most part I have the same ups and downs as other people. That is something that I would not have expected a few years ago! Good luck, I hope you get there soon!

Ah, auto correct, wonderful when you cannot spell (which I can't) and truly awful when it corrects things that you don't expect it to correct and don't notice it! Especially when you cannot proof read (which, again, I can't...)

StaceStacehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07907346657510908857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4187164070937704663.post-44174765511060740092016-05-21T07:38:32.994+02:002016-05-21T07:38:32.994+02:00Absolutely! I love the idea of a self portrait that is also anonymous, as well as the various textures that you get from taking your shadow in different places. The clouds I love for the dynamic range they can give to a picture.

Since I started to try and get a daily photo (which doesn't always work, so I try to make sure that when I see something I get it as backup for the future :p ) I have noticed that I am seeing pictures in everyday life. The third picture down is an example of this. I was in a meeting with the sun streaming through the lavender planted outside the window and into the room and started to think about how I could find a good angle to get a shot of it. It's an interesting way to start looking at the world, hopefully it'll only help my eye get better over time.

The app is really good for writing posts, but unfortunately there is no way of entering comments (WordPress is much better for that!) so this is being done on my laptop again!

Thanks, at the moment (aside from a crock neck that I have just got in he last 30 minutes!) life's good and I am doing my best to enjoy it!

StaceStacehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07907346657510908857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4187164070937704663.post-60323489371913508542016-05-17T23:56:45.041+02:002016-05-17T23:56:45.041+02:00Oh, technology, you secret enabler you. A quick snap here and there, and none of that two week wait, to see if you'd caught what was in the viewfinder. :-)

I don't know what it is about the brolly, but that's a lovely shot. Back in the 'dark (room) ages' I used to buy b&w film and process my own snaps; very arty. I will have to find that option on my phone and digital camera.
As for the rest, I can only say how much I'm looking forward to the day that my posts sound just as comfortable and matter-of-fact about getting on with life.
Oh, and yes, those 'sweeping mistakes'. Isn't it amazing how 'predictive text' can manage to come up with words that had nothing to do with what you think you said!? Maybe I will get up the nerve to publish from my phone someday. I've done both of those recently. The latter one was inspired by something I'd seen from a professional photographer who had taken a shot of his shadow for some project.

I don't know about you but I've found that since I started taken photos every day I've become much more aware of my surroundings and started looking at things with an eye to phot opportunities.

Well done on using the phone app for this post. Seems an impressive little app.

Glad that things are going OK at work. Enjoy the bank holiday.Jennahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08410714441581467404noreply@blogger.com
